02.21.24 Cannabis Use

I try to stay active, and living on a hill with a steep stairway into the basement means I’m climbing up and down all day. With my combination diagnoses of EDS, fibromyalgia and central sensitization, I have to watch what I do in order to not overextend my joints or roll an ankle! I literally can fall off my shoes (hence why you will find me barefoot, in Xtra Tuf Boots, or Birkenstocks, hahaha)… I do use cannabis for some pain and brain control, but I seem to have very healthy cannabinoid receptors, so my tolerance is very high.

Recently I was listening to the news, and there was reference of an AMA article on a study of the detriment of cannabis smoking as compared to tobacco. I cannot find the article to link it here, but it did have me curious about what Chat GPT would say about my daily use, in addition to my age, weight, and blood pressure. Here’s what it told me:

Here are some daily habits you can adopt to improve your overall well-being:

  1. Moderate Cannabis Use:

    • Know Your Limits: Understand your tolerance level and avoid excessive consumption. Responsible use and moderation are crucial.

    • Avoid Holding Smoke: When smoking cannabis, don’t hold it in your lungs for more than a second or two. Holding it longer doesn’t enhance the effects; it only irritates your lungs.

  2. Physical Activity:

    • Stay Active: Regular physical activity helps ease bodily tension. Consider activities like walking, jogging, or yoga.

    • Exercise Regularly: Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week.

  3. Diet and Hydration:

    • Balanced Diet: Consume a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.

    • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

  4. Blood Pressure Management:

    • Monitor Regularly: Keep track of your blood pressure. Your current reading is slightly elevated.

    • Reduce Sodium Intake: Limit high-sodium foods to help manage blood pressure.

    • Increase Potassium: Include potassium-rich foods like bananas, spinach, and sweet potatoes in your diet.

  5. Stress Reduction and Sleep:

    • Practice Relaxation Techniques: Meditation, deep breathing, and mindfulness can help reduce stress.

    • Prioritize Sleep: Establish a consistent sleep routine. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.

  6. Avoid Smoking Tobacco:

    • If you smoke tobacco in addition to marijuana, consider quitting. Smoking harms your lungs and cardiovascular system.

  7. Regular Check-Ups:

    • Visit Your Doctor: Regular health check-ups are essential. Discuss your cannabis use and overall health with your healthcare provider.

Remember that individual health needs vary, so consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice. Prioritize your well-being by making informed choices and maintaining a balanced lifestyle. 🌿💚
